Password entry

MacBook Pro, late 2013
OS X Ver 10.10.5
Suddenly automatic and manual password entry for variety of programs are not accepted (MS Office360 via Thunderbird, iCloud account, secure web sites). In most cases, both Username and PW not recognized, even though they are correctly entered and appear correct on the screen.
Have checked keyboard, doesn't appear to be malfunctioning.
Can log into same accounts without difficulty from MacBook Air over same network, etc.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

A couple of questions:

1. Very critical: have you been making backups of your MacBook Pro to an external drive?

2. Have you ever done any disk cleanup/maintenance/repairs on your MacBook Pro?

3. When you say "MS Office360 via Thunderbird", does that mean that you are not using Outlook 2016 for your EMail client?

By the way, questions 1 and 2 can also be asked about your MacBook Air.

Hello and welcome.

-Does it give you any error messages?
-Do you have  > System Preferences... > Users & Groups > your user > Password > Allow user to reset password using Apple ID enabled?
-Have you changed your user password on the MBP recently?
-Are you using iCloud > Keychain syncing?
