Paragraph spacing

I am running Mac for word 2011. I am trying to format my thesis. The issue is when there are only 2 paragraphs on a page Word tries to center the paragraphs and consequently the spacing between the two paragraphs is tool large. Please help. It seems to be stuck in the "Notebook" feature, if that helps.

I tried a google search of "How to revert from Notebook Layout in Word 2011 for Mac ", and this link (near the top, where it says Tip) seems to have a solution for your issue:
