When my wife moves her iPhone to her Apple Watch, the watch often momentarily shows the white round thing, then shows the icons for pairing. This doesn't happen all of the time, including when I have the camera open. The display on the phone waves. The Watch app on her phone works. By all indications I can find her phone appears to be paired. I rebooted both the watch and phone.

Any idea what's going on?

Hey Howard,

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
  1. Ensure Both Devices Are Up to Date:
    • Make sure that both the iPhone and the Apple Watch are running the latest software versions.
    • iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
    • Apple Watch: Open the Watch app on the iPhone, go to General > Software Update.
  2. Check Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Settings:
    • Ensure that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on both the iPhone and the Apple Watch.
    • iPhone: Go to Settings > Bluetooth and Settings > Wi-Fi.
    • Apple Watch: Swipe up from the bottom of the watch face to access the Control Center and check the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi icons.
  3. Re-pair the Apple Watch:
    • Unpair the Apple Watch from the iPhone and then pair it again.
    • Unpair:
      1. Open the Watch app on the iPhone.
      2. Go to My Watch tab and tap All Watches.
      3. Tap the info button (i) next to the watch you want to unpair.
      4. Tap Unpair Apple Watch.
    • Pair Again:
      1. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair the watch again.
  4. Reset Network Settings:
    • Resetting network settings can help resolve connectivity issues.
    • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  5. Reset Apple Watch Settings:
    • If the issue persists, you might need to reset the Apple Watch to its factory settings and set it up as new.
    • Reset Apple Watch:
      1. On the Apple Watch, go to Settings > General > Reset.
      2. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
    • Pair Again:
      1. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair the watch again.
