When I attempt to save a Pages document, this message pops up
"The document sss.pages is on a volume that does not support permanent version storage. You will not be able to access older versions of this document once you close it." ???

Hello,

To expand on oldscribe's question, the iWork apps use a versioning system to allow you to restore an older version of a document. This doesn't work on some non-Apple disk formats and cloud-based network storage such as Dropbox and Google Drive.

OK...

-Which version of macOS?
-Which version of Pages?
-Do you have FileVault enabled?

OK, thanks.

Look in  > System Preferences... > Security & Privacy > FileVault. For most peopple, FileVault is better left disabled.

Hi,

on my desktop

Could you try an experiment, write a new doc and use export and put it on your desktop to see if this same message pops up. if not then add to the doc and choose (save as ) NOT SAVE.
what are the results?
