So in El Capitan, Photos used to open up and offer to import from a camera when the camera is connected. In Big Sur, it doesn't seem to want to do that anymore. How do I make it do that?

Nope. That doesn't do it. Image Capture can connect to my camera, but it also doesn't offer to open by itself when my camera is connected. No preferences at all. Now, Photos used to do that in El Cap.You plug the camera in, and boom, Photos opens and offers to import from it. I must have set it up that way somehow, but I can't figure it out. Photos doesn't seem to offer that option in its Preferences.

Hi,

-Which brand/model is the camera?
-Is it listed in the sidebar in Photos in the Devices section?

Yes, it's an old Oympus. It is in the sidebar under Locations.

Well, that's strange. I found the answer a few days ago, and I thought I posted it. But I don't see it here. You go into Photos with your camera connected. You click on it in Devices, and check off "Open Photos for this device". Simple.
