Hello,
I'm new to this forum, so hopefully posting in the right place!

After a recent visit to my parents picked up my old quicksilver G4 tower. All important parts have vanished ie software disc's and monitor etc. So plug the tower into my Macbook.

The G4 is showing in 'SHARED' but requires a password to connect as a registered user and guess what, I can't remember the password from over 7 years ago! It wont let me connect as a Guest either.

Any ideas? Thanks

I think you may need to purchase the original Mac OS X installation discs to get around this one. Make sure you buy the Full Retail Version of the software & not grey discs as they are machine specific & won't work for your G4.

Power Mac G4

It says the max OS version is 10.4.11.

You'll need to boot from the disc & enter the Utilities menu to find options to access the drive.
