Not able to save to desktop anymore

Can any of you guys help me? I have a 2017 Imac running Mojave, and I can no longer save documents to the desktop. If working on word I no longer have that option. How do I get it back?
Also, I can't save to desktop on my Chromebook either

When you say can't save to desktop, is the option greyed out or non-existent?

When you say that the Desktop is not an option. Do you mean that the Desktop Folder does not show in the Sidebar, or you can't navigate to the Folder?

On the macbook pro I can save to desktop from chrome, but I cant save to desktop from microsoft word. There is no option to choose desktop

Ok, that seems strange, but I'm not a Word user. Can you Save To Desktop from other applications?

Can you post a screenshot of the Save dialogue box as I have in my earlier post?
