New Mac HELP!

Hi guys, I am in serious need of help, I have a tone of work to do and no idea how to get the mac up to date with all the updates, I have nothing on this thing as it was bought second hand and iv not used one in about 10 years. All my work is on a pc and the mac wont recognise anything and when it does it just jumbles up everything. Also cant get my printer to work from the mac and don't want to spend £100 a year on Microsoft office!! AHH huge headache and feel like my workload has just tripled!!

Any help would be sooo great!! xx

how to get the mac up to date with all the updates

Click the Apple top left on menu bar then select software update.

All my work is on a pc and the mac wont recognise anything and when it does it just jumbles up everything.

Get pages as it will read MS documents and Numbers for spread sheets. Or if you do not want to pay try open office.

Also would be helpful to know your Mac specs.
