new hard drive on imac keeps rebooting

OK guys so I'm a newb here so bare with me. I have an iMac model a1224 that I replaced the hard drive on. I replaced it with a Toshiba 1tb. I went into disk utility and erased everything on it renamed it and got it set up to put the is on (mountain lion) we'll when I try to install it it goes through the first step of install but after a minute or so it turns off restarts and goes back to disk itility without installing the os. Any body have any ideas?

I replaced the hard drive on.

I'd say it isn't installed correctly. Maybe screws in the wrong locations, cable not seated properly. Are you a Certified Apple Technician? The Hard drive was not a user serviceable part in the a1224.
