My account is locked and I can't reset my password!

I don't have any other devices I can access to reset it. On my mac - I go to Forgotten password, enter my mobile and I get a text with my apple id code, so far so good. I enter this code on the mac, and then it asks me for my apple id. I enter that, but then it just goes to an Enter password box... I don't have the password what do I do!

I tried entering a new password as I thought it might be wanting to re-set it - but it just comes up as Wrong password and I'm going around in circles.. can anyone help please?

On your login screen, when you enter a “wrong” password, do you get this prompt below the password field?
