Hi guys,

I'm having an issue with the battery not charging on my mid 2012 Macbook Pro. The battery cycle is 307 and is in "Normal" condition but won't charge. The charger light stays green the laptop only works when the charger plugs in.

Strangely, the macbook automatically turns on as soon as the charger is plugged in also. It does not turn on when using the power button so I cannot reset the SMC. I've reset the PRAM with no luck.

I was previously using an aftermarket charger and it resulted in burnt pins on 2 and 5 of the port. The port was also replaced about 3 months ago. I'm now using an official apple charger and battery.

Hello and welcome.

Sounds like an issue with the I/O power board, logic board, and possibly the top case, since the power button doesn't function.

-How long has the power button not worked?
-Any physical/liquid damage that you know of?
