Mail and Safari Activate SPOD

I am running a MBA 2017, 13' with 11.2.3 Big Sur.
Since installing, I get the SPOD right after opening Mail or Safari. This does not seem to happen with other apps.
I am wondering if others have had this difficulty since upgrading.
Tried force quit, -sometimes MBA freezes prior to activating Force Quit -if activated doesn't help
Tried power off and on, problem reoccurs
Any ideas to solve this would be appreciated.

-Did this issue start when you install Big Sur or after an update to Big Sur?
-How much free space is left?
-Does this only affect Safari and Mail - other applications are fine?

The issue started after installing BS 11.2.1 on Feb 12, got worse, (more freezing ), after installing 11.2.2 on the 26th and continues with 11.2.3. Currently there are 114G of free space out of 250. Other apps have not had a problem with the SPOD. I have tried another Mag Safe power supply and the problem continues. What about resetting the SMC?
Interestingly, when the MBA is on battery this problem does not occur on Mail or Safari or other apps.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
