Macbook Pro reboots when waking up from sleep

Hello guys,

For about a week now I am coming across this issue every time I wake my Macbook Pro (9.2) from sleep: open the lid, and it reboots instead of just waking up from sleep. However, this only happens after a sleep time of more than aprox. 30-40 minutes. When I put the mac to sleep mode over night and when I wanted to wake it up it restarted and was greeted by the following message. I copied the details down below.

I have tried resetting the SMC and the NVRAM but nothing changed. Still does the same.

Has anyone come across this issue?

Recently I had switched for a Samsung SSD from my old 750gb HDD that came with the mac. Could this be the problem (it did this reboot thing before but only after unplugging the mag safe connector)?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome.

I see from your report that you are running OS X 10.11 (15A284) El Capitan. The first recommendation I would make would be to update to 10.11.3 (15D21). See if that corrects the issue and let us know.

As always, we recommend that you have a current Time Machine or other backup of your data.

OK, that was a good thing to do anyway.

I do see this file: com.seagate.driver.PowSecDriverCore 5.2.6.

-Do you have an Seagate external hard drive?
-Did you install Seagate utility software that came with it?

You could try uninstalling that and/or unmounting and disconnecting the Seagate to see of that helps. If you don't have/use an Seagate drive, definitely uninstall it. If you don't have an uninstaller, let us know and we can manually remove it.

Hello Cory,

Done that, did not help. Just to mention that it does the same after I left it to charge overnight. As soon as I unplug the Mag Safe adaptor it reboots.

So it does it with or without the magsafe power adaptor...

Any other ideas on what might cause this?

Thank you!

Maybe try navigating to  > System Preferences... > Energy Saver and uncheck Startup automatically after a power failure in both Battery and Power Adapter.

Also, it is a genuine Apple MagSafe power adapter?

Let us know if that corrects it,
