MacBook keys - sticky!

my wife got a very used 2011 MacBook Pro...the keys feel like someone poured a complete can of coke over them..not likely, but they are all mushy/sticky/horrible...

is this a membrane issue? - repairable?

Hello and welcome.

Sounds like it could be some form of liquid damage, especially if all of them are in that state.

It is repairable, but that would require a full top case/keyboard replacement. Guesstimate would be several hundred dollars.
