Mac volume

Although I have the F12 key at maximum, I can't receive as loudly as I used to. Is there a way to increase the volume apart from the F12 key?

Apple menu>System Preferences>Sound.

You should also check the volume setting within the App you're playing the sound from. Also the Apple speakers while good for low to medium aren't ideal for loud, and it is possible to overdrive them and do permanent damage.
