Mac *enable junk filtering* keeps unchecking

Hi -

I go to preferences and click the check box 'enable junk filtering' but when I close Mail and reopen it I find that the box is unchecked. And of course junk filtering is switched off. Anyone know why it keeps doing this please?

I suggest to try first… in the same Mail settings window, there’s a Reset… button at the bottom. If you are ready to reset your previous settings, do the reset. Then select the Enable junk mail filtering box again. Quit Mail and relaunch. Check to see if the selection is still checked. I would also check the other custom settings that you previously set.

Thanks Tony for the suggestion. Unfortunately that didn't change things
