For more years than I want to think about, I have been writing a fiction book. I finished it, and had it professionally edited (on paper - before I made the changes on my mac) and saved it to my desktop. In the past, I have always emailed a copy to myself, but for reasons now scrambling my mind, I didn't this time. Worse still it has somehow deleted from my desktop. Worse still, I threw away her paper notes when I finished it. Worse then that though, it was the last editing job my friend did before she passed away.
Can anyone help? I can see the lost file in 'Recents' but because the file has been deleted from the desktop, can't open it.
Some point of note:
1) It seems it was deleted close to a year ago (around the time it was saved there). My intention being to back away from it, re read it fresh some time later, before self publishing.
2) I can not find it in the bin.
3) I had not activated Time Machine
4) I have tried tried some recovery software.
