Lightroom 5

Does anyone have suggestions on how to use the presets on Lightroom 5? I am having trouble getting them to work. When I click on them nothing happens.
Also, Any suggestions on how to export the photos I edited into a file on my Mac? If I hit export, I am having trouble locating the final photo that I edited.
