Killed my Mac via Monolingual

I tried to free up some space on my mid 2010 15" Macbook Pro by using Monolingual. I restarted the computer after Chrome was giving me some issues (was stuck in Spanish after several attempts to change back to English) and now my Mac is completely unresponsive. After rebooting it is stuck on the default background with no windows, but I am able to move the mouse. Tried inserting the start up disk to no avail.

Any help before I have to lug this $2000 aluminum brick to the Mac Store?
