iTunes disappeared

Hi,
I had an old version of iTunes running and updated it. When I did, the application disappeared. I have tried searching for it and cant find it. Ive also tried downloading it again but it just says 'download complete' without actually doing anything. Any suggestions please?

Just to clarify, you currently cannot find any version of iTunes on your computer?

How are you downloading it?

If you haven't already done so, run Software Update if on Mac OS X 10.7.x or previous otherwise I believe it's now done through the App Store ...
