Hi, I have a Macbook Pro Retina 15 inch model 11,2 A1398 late 2013 running Catalina. I aim to upgrade to Big Sur but have read that a lot of 13 inch models have been bricked by the update. So…

1. do you have any idea whether, being a 15 inch, my upgrade would be safe?

2. should I wait for a later version of Big Sur?

3. I have an SSD with a full clone of the system as backup. If the upgrade bricks my Mac, would swopping in the clone SSD containing Catalina allow the Mac to run?
Cheers

I would wait a while longer to upgrade. Nothing scientific I just prefer to wait until they iron out the wrinkles.

Cloning your system is a good idea. I have done this on a number of occasions with no problem.

Let us know how it goes.
