Ipod Touch won't Sync With Itunes

Ever since I downloaded a new itunes for mac version about a month ago, I cannot get my 2009 ipod touch to sync with itunes. Has anyone else had this problem? I've downloaded the subsequent updates for itunes and updated the software on my ipod. Any help could be appreciated!
