My iPhone XS isn't charging above 78%. It's been stuck there for hours. I’ve tried different charging cables, but it still won’t go past 78%.

Anyone else experienced this or have any solutions? Thanks!

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Turn Off Optimized Battery Charging:
    • Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health.
    • Toggle off Optimized Battery Charging. This feature is designed to slow down battery aging by learning your charging routine and waiting to finish charging past 80% until you need to use it.
  2. Restart Your iPhone:
    • Sometimes, a simple restart can fix charging issues. Press and hold the Side button and either Volume button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider, wait for your device to turn off, then press and hold the Side button again until you see the Apple logo.
  3. Check for Software Updates:
    • Ensure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
  4. Reset All Settings:
    • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This won’t delete your data, but it will reset system settings like Wi-Fi passwords and wallpapers.
  5. Calibrate Your Battery:
    • Let your iPhone’s battery drain completely until it shuts off.
    • Charge it uninterrupted to 100%.
    • This process can sometimes recalibrate the battery sensor.
  6. Check Battery Health:
    • Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health to see if the battery needs service. If the Maximum Capacity is significantly degraded, it might be time for a battery replacement.

Contact Apple Support

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be a hardware problem. Contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store for further assistance.
