I'm experiencing an issue with my new iPhone 15 Pro constantly disconnecting from Apple CarPlay. I’ve tried multiple USB-C cables and holders, but the problem persists. This didn’t happen with my iPhone 14 Pro using a Lightning cable or with Android Auto USB-C. Interestingly, my wife’s iPhone 15 doesn’t disconnect, so I’m wondering if this is an isolated issue with my iPhone 15 Pro that needs replacing or if it's a broader issue with this model. Has anyone encountered this problem?

Hey Kimy,

Since your wife’s iPhone 15 works fine and your iPhone 14 Pro didn't have this issue, it might be an isolated problem with your specific iPhone 15 Pro. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check for iOS Updates:
    • Go to Settings > General > Software Update to ensure that your iPhone 15 Pro is running the latest version of iOS. Sometimes updates include fixes for connectivity issues.
  2. Reset Network Settings:
    • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will reset your Wi-Fi networks, passwords, cellular settings, and VPN/APN settings.
  3. Reset All Settings:
    • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will reset system settings without deleting your data, but it might help resolve the issue.
  4. Forget and Reconnect CarPlay:
    • Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, select your car, and choose Forget This Car.
    • Reconnect your iPhone to your car and set up CarPlay again.
  5. Try a Different Port:
    • If your car has multiple USB ports, try connecting your iPhone 15 Pro to a different port to see if that helps.
  6. Check for Car Firmware Updates:
    • Some car manufacturers release firmware updates for their infotainment systems. Check with your car dealer or the manufacturer's website for any available updates.
  7. Inspect and Clean the USB-C Port:
    • Ensure that the USB-C port on your iPhone 15 Pro is clean and free from debris. Use a soft, dry brush or compressed air to clean the port gently.

If the Issue Persists

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it could indeed be a hardware problem with your specific iPhone 15 Pro. Given that your wife’s iPhone 15 does not experience the same issue, it's less likely to be a broader issue with the model.

Contact Apple Support

  1. Contact Apple Support:
    • Reach out to Apple Support to explain the issue. They might offer additional troubleshooting steps or suggest a replacement if they determine it to be a hardware defect.
  2. Visit an Apple Store:
    • If possible, visit an Apple Store for a Genius Bar appointment. They can perform diagnostics on your iPhone 15 Pro and potentially replace it if a hardware issue is identified.

Someone figured it out. It's the cable.

ITS THE CABLE! Needs to be a USB to USB-C cable that does DATA as well as recharges.
