In OS 10.14.6 cannot have Apple Mail window AND Safari window at the same time.

With a Safari window open on desktop, clicking Mail in the dock, the Safari window disappears. As an example of the resulting difficulties caused, I cannot copy (e.g. an address) from one window to the other - BOTH windows need to be open simultaneously.

This problem has only arisen in recent days and I do not know why the screen behaviour has changed.

I'd be grateful for any advice members could offer to resolve the issue.

Hello,

Sounds like the windows may be in different Spaces in Mission Control. Have you checked that?
