I was wondering if there is a way to have imessages on my macbook that can only run OS X Lion, i have an ipad mini and an iphone4, it would be great to get the messages on my mac while i am setting here on my mac

Unfortunately no. Mountain Lion replaced iChat with Messages.

This was possible back in 2012 for OS X Lion, so have done a little digging and found the original Beta download. The messagesbeta.dmg downloads fine but have no Idea if it is workable as I am running OS X 10.9.1 with a Cory said has iMessage built in.
