Hello,

Great Forum and folks.
Old Age problem I guess.
Have a desktop imac.

a. No matter what I do, or change, I cannot get any Audio
to go to my headphones.

Have tried every combination in Settings/Sounds, and nothing
seems to work. (Headphone do seem to be "recognized," though)
Headphones are plugged into the side-edge headphone jack. (not to any rear jack)

What am I, as usual, missing or doing wrong ?

b. And, assuming we can get the above figured out, is there any
way to Totally stop any sound from coming thru the built-in
mac's speakers, and have All the audio thru the headphones, only ?

Don't like to "cross-post," but is this the best/appropriate Forum here to Post this to ?

Much thanks, appreciate the help, very,

Really very specific how-to's would be great; I seem to miss many nuances these days.

Hi Bob,

You havent said which OS you have, and what steps you have tried.

Usually all you need to do is to plug the headphones in and then go to the Sound preference Pane and set the utput t the headphones.

If you tried this, and it doesn’t hold, try to zap the PRAM (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063) and then try the settings again.

Hi,

For clarification, this is an Apple Silicon iMac (M1/M3) correct? They are the models with the headphone jack on the left side and not the rear.
