IMac 27 clicking

When is on and not in use for at while it start clicking irregular intervals every some 2 seconds as if is is turned off and on. But it is not tuned. If I tuch the spacebar it is on immediately. What to do?

-In what area is the clicking coming from?
-Is it always rhythmic - every two secs, or random?
-Are you experiencing any performance issues?

Hello. It is 10.10.5. it comes mostly from the left half of the screen. Random. Everything perform perfectly, maybe a little slow start.

Depending on the exact model and configuration of your iMac, it could be a few things:

-Lower left - fan
-Upper left - power supply
-Left center to middle center - hard drive

You could always take it in to an Apple Store and have full hardware diagnostics run on it. It could be foreign material in the fan, hard drive starting to fail or intensely accessing data, power supply heating up and not venting properly, etc. Hard to tell without being able to hear it in person and run hardware diagnostics.

If you aren't experiencing any freezing/powering off/etc., then it is probably more of an annoyance than a hardware issue.

Yes i tried...without any result. Have send the mac to a mac repair shop. Thank you for your suggestions. Tom
