iCloud sign in issue

Hello all,

I have been having trouble signing in to my iCloud account for several weeks on
my 2017 27” iMac running macOS Catalina 10.15.6
It seems to have started when I was having issues with my ‘keychain access’, had
to delete the keychain files and start over.

I currently am logged in to iCloud with the same Apple ID and password I’ve
had for years on several other devices:

2013 27” iMac running macOS Sierra 10.12.6
5th generation iPad iOS 13.6.1
4th generation Apple TV
iPhone 8 iOS 13.6.1
iPhone 6s iOS 13.6.1

I’ve tried various fixes, including deleting iCloud preference files, changing
Apple ID password etc. You can see the step by step process that I take
in attempting to log in to iCloud with my Apple ID and password on the
attached jpeg. I also have a full sized jpeg of this illustration at
this link.

Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome.

This can be a very difficult issue to resolve. Did you try what is suggested in this box: delete the account from the Internet Accounts preference pane?

Yes, I tried the solution in the popup alert box... as indicated in my illustration. ;)

Ooof...sorry, guess I missed that...my bad.

-Do know if you have Keychain syncing enabled in iCloud preferences?
-Have you tried deleting your iCloud login information in the Utilities > Keychain Access application?

Hi Cory,

I'm trying some different 'keychain access' stuff right now, with no luck. I've tried deleting everything related to iCloud in my
keychain access application, including my iCloud ID. It just gets replaced when I try to log in to iCloud again. I don't know where to
find iCloud preferences in the macOS Catalina 10.15.6 user interface. In preferences it's just Apple ID at the top of the preferences window as seen in my illustration.

For the record, I am able to log in to iCloud and it works perfectly when I am booted from my backup macOS Catalina drive.
Also, I created another user profile on this iMac and was prompted to set up iCloud when I did that. I used my current Apple ID
and password and iCloud opened and worked perfectly. So, it's not that I don't have options. I'm just a little OCD and I want to
try and get this figured out ha ha.

Sorry for the delay...

In Catalina, you can access iCloud preferences (Keychain syncing) two ways:
System Preferences... > Apple ID > iCloud (on left side)
System Preferences... > Internet Accounts > iCloud
