I can't access old user contents on my external hard drive

i feel like I am on the verge of getting it - but when I try to drag them to the users - shared folder on the internal HD - I cannot see it - as it doesn't appear in the menu when I am logged in to the old account. I am completely bamboozled!

When you login to the old account, open two Finder windows:

1. External HD > where the files are - where you are dragging from
2. Macintosh HD > Users > Shared - where you want to drag them too

That way, you can always see the source and the destination, which will make it easier to drag and drop to copy them.

Thanks - I ended up managing to drag them into my pictures folder which I dragged into the Users! Then I could see them and opening iPhoto showed all the old pics! I copied the iPhoto pics into Pictures and then into my current iPhoto library. All very convoluted and haphazard but that seems to work. Thanks for your help - I might try to do it all properly at some point. Really appreciated your help!
