1. What exact Mac model do you have?
2. What exact Mac OS are you running?
3. What apps does this happen with?
I actually just tried entering text in Word 2016, and even though I entered a lower case letter at the start of a sentence, Word changed it to a capital letter. But it did not put a period at the end.

I’m using an iPad 2 that’s up to date with up-dates. It happens in all applications. The period happens after two spacebar clicks at the end of every word or sentence...two spacebar clicks prompts the period. It’s not “Word” that’s making my capital letters, as this happens also with every application every time I begin a sentence.
