How to stop uploading to iCloud

I have on my desktop a reference program that is quite large and has filled my iCloud space. Is there any way I can stop it uploading?

Hello,

It sounds like you may have iCloud Drive > Desktop & Documents Folders enabled. Since the reference program is on the Desktop, instead of the Applications folder, it will sync it up to iCloud and take up space. Applications should be in the Applications folder, and if you move it there, you should regain the space in iCloud.
