How To Iconify steam

Hello and welcome.
It sounds like Steam is not running, hence the icon not being displayed on the menu bar. I have never used Steam, so I am not familiar with how it runs. Have you tried double-clicking Steam in the Applications folder?
-Which model Mac?
-Which version of OS X/macOS?
-Which version of Steam?

That all looks good. It may be best to use Steam Support or Steam Community, unless another member here is more familiar with Steam than I.
