How do I stop my computer from looking for a non connected server?

I keep getting a message that "there was a problem connecting to the server ...." . This server has not been connected to my computer for quite some time. How do I stop the computer from looking for this server all of the time? Thanks for any help.

You should contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) about that. Maybe after talking with them, you would need to change some of the settings in the Network System Preference.
