Help!!

someone please help.
for my christmas present last year my parents gave me a JVC hi-def hand held video camera.
I WAS STOKED! only one problem.
1 month later i plug in to transfer the videos to my macbook and all the files are cpi fies and i cant figure out how to convert them to mp4 files.

someone pls help !!!

Open iMovie,
File > Import From Camera
Load in the Clips
Make a new Project
Make Movie
Share as the desired format.
