So my Mac fell off my desk and the screen cracked. I opened it up and it had a 1TB HDD. I want to replace that with a 500GB SSD. I do not need the data from the HDD and I want to install a clean OS on the SSD. I followed this guide to install Ventura on a bootable USB. https://www.easeus.com/computer-instruction/create-macos-ventura-bootable-usb.html. When I click the bootable USB I get the circle with the line through it and support.apple.com/mac/startup.
How can I fox this? I feel like this iMac can be upgraded and saved.

Also where do you recommend buying a new screen (LM270QQ (SD) (B1)? I checked eBay and other sites, but that are all like $400+.

Thanks

Hello,
  • Which exact model iMac?
  • Is the iMac compatible with Ventura?
  • Where did you create the USB installer - on another Mac?
  • Have you tried Internet Recovery first?

A1419 27” iMac
I am trying with Monterey
I created the bootable usb with a working MacBook.
Recovery with and without internet does not work.

I keep getting stuck during the install at “less than a minute remaining”.

What else can I try?
