Help with getting OS 10.5

Help? Well, for someone who still uses my old 1984 Macintosh for writing, I am still just ignorant. I am now using a imac (bought it from UCSC surplus for $50) and have to figure out how to get Mac os 10.5
Any ideas?

First step is to find out which Mac OS X version you are running ... you can find that if you click on the  in the upper left of your screen and choosing "about this Mac" or something similar.

Post as much info that you can find here and we'll go from there.
