Hi. I have an external HDD (4TB as Mac OS Extended (journaled) with some files/folders on it. When I connect it to my MacBook, the drive is recognised and I can see the folders and files. However, when I try to copy a file or folder, it just tried to copy - and then nothing happens. I have tried the Disk Utility to do repair and first-aid but it eventually (after a few minutes) says "failed". Is this drive busy dying/faulty....? How can I get the folders and files off this drive? Any suggestions, recommendations, apps very welcome.

It sounds like the drive might be failing, especially since Disk Utility couldn’t fix it. First, try a different cable or USB port to see if that helps. If not, try using a data recovery app like Disk Drill or Stellar Data Recovery to get your files back. If it still doesn’t work, you might need to go to a pro data recovery service. Just make sure to stop using the drive so you don’t risk losing more data.
