Hi there! My husband insists on letting our baby pound the keyboard and this time, my whole display expanded so that I could not see the icons and the top control bar! I have tried the settings and resolution window, but nothing puts it to the right size. Help

Hi,
Could be you are in full screen mode, push the mouse to the top of the screen and see if you now have a menu bar and dock. If so look to the top far right of the screen, there should be a small blue box with two arrows if so click it.
