Hi,

I have a 'Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5'
and I have a virus/malware issue, I was very stupidly
running this without any anti-virus software.

So this issues is,
if I try and go onto Facebook it takes me
to some page that is a mess, I don't think its
the real Facebook, the graphics are all over the place.

On chrome if i try and go on to google it says that it cannot
connect to the real google…

I download and ran a Avast anti-virus which found 4 infected files and
got ride of them, but nothing has changed…

Is there some sort of anti-malware programme I can use?
Or something I can run to see what is wrong with this machine.

Kind regards

Update, just found that my clock and date was set to 2002, set this back to correct time/date and everything is working. Problem occurred when a believe a faulty charger made the Mac switch off and reset suddenly, is this possible?

Thanks

I guess it could have affected things. Have you checked the battery health?

-Is the entire system slow...for everything, or just browsers?
-How much free HD space do you have?

You could try flushing the DNS cache using this:

DNS Flusher

Hi,

I download and ran a Avast anti-virus
Also
1) Would suggest that you fully remove the above if you have not already done so. (Unless you have boot camped I see not reason to have an AV installed,) as from Snow Leopard on Apple built in an AV protection.
2) Repair permissions with disk utility. (you should run this 2 times, (clear listings after each run)
