Help! my Mac has stalled!

Hi everyone, I am new and have a big problem because my Mac has stalled. It´s an old version OSX 4.11 and it is stuck. I´ve tried turning it off, waiting a while and then turning it on again, but it is still stuck (the mousepad control doesn´t work).
Can anyone help me out?

Do you mean Tiger? If so and you have the disks then try booting from that.

Thanks so much for your advice! In the end, I don't really know how, the cursor command started working again. I think the cursor pad is old and getting sticky, and apart from that, I need to update to 10.6 (this ole computer won't support anything higher).
