I apologize if my question sound cliche.

Can Macbook air M1 with 16GB ram handle the following task for someone on a low budget.?
(All will be runing at once).

  1. XCODE
  2. 2 IOS SIMULATOR
  3. OBS (recording + streaming)
  4. Chrome (few tabs)
  5. spotify(optional)
And if not what device would you recommend?

Thanks for your time.

Hello and welcome.

Yes, any of the M1 Macs should be able to handle that pretty easily. However, it is recommended to only run applications like OBS Studio and Xcode by themselves, as audio recording applications work much smoother that way.

That said, I regularly run Logic Pro and UAD Console with other applications open - Safari, Mail, Messages, Numbers, etc. without any issue. When tracking/recording, I make sure Logic Pro and UAD Console are the only open application.

Which iOS simulator - the Xcode Simulator application?

OK, thanks.

I tried a quick test on my Mac mini M1/16 GB/1 TB running macOS 12.6.1 Monterey with the latest version of the following applications running simultaneously:
Activity Monitor
Logic Pro (Playing a 39 track session with 40+ plugins enabled)
Mail
Messages
Music (Streaming Apple Music)
Xcode - iOS Simulator with iPhone connected via USB
Google Chrome

Here is the Activity Monitor CPU Usage window

Everything running smoothly and the fan is at minimum.

Hope that helps! ;)
