Help Mac Crashed

Was working fine yesterday, turned it on today and only got this with a boot cycle. Tried to reinstall but says HD is locked. If anything is there a way i can get files off the drive?

We need to know what exact Mac model you have, and what exact Mac OS are you using. Additionally, have you been making backups to an external device? Also, do you have access to another Mac? And, what were you doing yesterday prior to shutting down the machine?
