Hi all, am now having password problems on my 20" M1 iMac, running Sequoia. eve since i upgraded it to 15.5

Mainly in my Mail Program... my main email has a 'tilde' against it, and when i click to take all my email and Gmail accounts online, it asks for my password for my main email and my Gmail account...

I know my dam passwords, and even have hard copy and screen dumps of them in a "Passwords Folder"

and yet Mail sais it is unable to Verify account name... WTF.?

has it been hacked ?. of is something corupted... and I dont know how to get it back or working...

I refuse to update to the nex operating system, as i have had some problems with photo apps that i have subscriptions to in the past. (and they charge me a new fee for the latest version of their app.. dam)

any help would be appreciated.. (I have tried phoning my service provider, but my tinnitus is now so bad i cant hear people i am in the same room with, let alone, call help cemters that use people that WONT SPEAK Loudly... work up stone deaf again 2 months ago... hearin comes back but that takes ages...

Regards, Sandy (and seriously think i am getting Alzheimer's, but i dam weel know my passwords, and have hard copy)

If you don’t wish to upgrade your system to the latest version, at the very least you can try to reinstall your current version. If you don’t have a copy of go macOS 15.5 (24F74), you can get it using Terminal. The reinstallation will at least replace any damaged system files.

Okay, no Terminal. Do you have another Apple device? Can you access your emails on that?
Can you define what you mean when you say your "main" email? Is this the one you use for your Apple ID?

My first suggestion would be to try a different email client (app) there are lots of good free ones on the App store but first can you access your emails on the Google gMail website? ie. Go to Google's main web page, login and go to gMail if that all works it proves your passwords are correct.

Lastly, in your screen shot "Can't Connect to the Account..." have you clicked on the question mark bottom left? What does it say?

If that is the account you use for your Apple ID it might be asking for your Apple ID Password, not the gMail password.
