New Mac user here on Big Sur. When downloading a movie on gmail app (Mail for Gmail) it will autoplay the audio (not video) in the background. Quicktime is the media player.

I want to stop the autoplay entirely.

I know how to disable this in safari, but not sure how to disable using the native gmail app. Is there a fix for this? Thanks!

Hello and welcome.

Not sure, as I haven't used the Mail for Gmail application before. There may be a setting in its preferences for media playback. If not, there may be no way, since the email is probably being displayed in HTML, and there is a known AUTO PLAY= true tag.

You could also contact the developer and see if they may have an idea.
