Hello,
Thought I posted this before, but it doesn't seem to have appeared...
How do I find the root password under Mac OS X 10.8.4? I thought I'd found it just with my user name, but then next time I tried that I just got a > prompt, whatever that means. Also, what is kerberos, and what can I do with it?
TIA,

PS This site seems very quiet. Are there any more popular Apple free help sites?

the root account is not enabled in OSX.

Just because you enter the Admin password does not enable continued access.

kerberos is security, as in the 3 headed dog who guards the underworld.

quiet? if you want volume go to Apple Support Forums.

There are some useful FAQs for experienced UNIX users transitioning to Mac BSD. Start your search from Apple's support communities. This site seems to be more oriented to learning to use the GUI side of your Mac.
