If I lose my phone, I can't track it until I return home to use my Mac. Can I add a second iPhone to my list of devices, or must they all be the same AppleID?

Hello and welcome.

They need to be the same Apple ID, unless you enable Find My - Family Sharing. (iOS 15 or later)

In adition to what Cory stated, You can invite someone else with a different AppleID to share your location. Then you can use their devices to locate your phone. You just won't be able to lock your iPhone, or have it play a sound.
