SOLVED external headset sound stopped functioning

sound works ok on Mac mini speaker but stopped functioning through my external headset.

Wired or bluetooth headset?
If it is wired, have you checked the wiring and or the jack socket?
Have you checked that sound is not muted for the headset?

this is a wired headset. I have been usiong thru a sound amplifier but disconnected that and tried different headset connected to my mac mini. Hate to be dumb but where do I check for mute?

My mute block is not checkied

went back and forth into sound settings and found one with mute button checkeck. I unchecked it and external headset now functioning. Thanks
