I have two MacBook Airs. The older one is running Big Sur 11.6.7 and the newer one Monterey 12.4

The Samsung DVD Drive is recognised on Big Sur but not on Monterey.

Am I correct in thinking I need a new driver for Monterey?

But when I try to access the SE-208 driver for macos when I Download the Mac option it’s an .exe file which seems to be a Windows file so I can’t run it on my Mac

What am I doing wrong please?

Hello,

I believe that Samsung DVD device is from around 2014, correct? Many of the older optical drives that Samsung released were compatible with Windows only, which is why you are only seeing the EXE Windows installers. Some had Mac compatibility, but with the recent changes to macOS, I doubt that Samsung will supply any updated drivers for Mac.

If it isn't recognized, then you will probably have to replace it with a currently compatible drive.
