I've search far and wide and have not been able to figure out what this application is.

Check out this image:

What app is the icon with the checkmark within a circle? The one inbetween the search and bluetooth icons.

Also, what is the app with the empty circle with the lock next to it?

Those aren't familiar to me.

-What happens if you click on them...do the have drop-down menus?
-Have you looked in  > System Preferences... > Users & Groups > your user > Login Items?
